gControl Panel Computer contains removable DDR4 RAM and M.2 SSD storage. By default, gControl comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
Opening your computer can expose you to the risk of electric shock and damage to its components. Additionally, changing hardware may result in losing your settings, configurations, and data. Any modifications are done at your own risk. These instructions are provided for guidance only.
Before making any changes, be sure to back up your computer’s data.
Upgrade and Install RAM in your gControl
Important Tips
– Handle RAM carefully: Avoid touching the gold connectors to prevent static damage.
– Proper seating: Ensure the RAM is inserted securely into the slot before closing the case.
– Don’t force it: Recheck the alignment if the RAM doesn’t fit or clicks easily.
Memory compatibility: 16 GB max, DDR4 3200 MT/s, one channel, no ECC support.
Step 1: Gather your tools
– Small Phillips screwdriver.
– Anti-static wrist strap (optional but recommended).
– Clean, flat work surface.
Step 2: Power off and unplug the device
Shut down your gControl.
Unplug the power cable.
Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
Step 3: Ground yourself
To prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD), wear an anti-static wrist strap or touch a metal object to ground yourself.
Step 4: Open the panel
Use a small Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws (4) securing the back cover.
Step 5: Locate the existing RAM
* Depending on the unit, you may have a different hardware layout, but the process for upgrading and replacing the memory will be the same.
You can unplug the red cable to give you better access to the RAM stick.
Step 6: Remove the existing RAM
Push the metal clips on either side of the existing RAM stick.
(It might have a small amount of glue, which you can remove. It’s only there to keep the memory secure during transport. You don’t need to put it back if you don’t want to.)
The RAM will pop up at a slight angle; gently pull it out of the slot.
Step 7: Install new RAM
In this tutorial, we are using a CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (1x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz.
Align the new stick with the slot. The notch in the RAM should match the key in the slot, and the RAM should be inserted at a slight angle.
Press down gently until the RAM clicks into place and the metal clips snap back, securing it.
Step 8: Put the cover back
Remember to plug in the red cable again if you removed it.
Step 9: Power on the device
Step 10: Verify the upgrade in the operating system
Search for “About your PC” and open it.
You will be able to see the “Installed RAM” information as shown:
