Hello and welcome to your AltMill resources!Β
These resources are designed to help you understand your AltMill CNC machine, so you can get started seamlessly. We update these pages regularly to provide you with the most up-to-date information about your machine.Β
What to Expect
For complete beginners, the AltMill requires a steep learning curve, due to its use of sensors, closed loop steppers, and a spindle, which add additional complexity to the CNC-ing workflow. That’s why we typically recommend beginners to start with the LongMill, then move up to the AltMill, since the LongMill CNC system is inherently simpler.
When you first start out, you will most likely encounter issues, whether that be alarms showing up, or the spindle not spinning. Just know that understanding and learning CNC is a continuous process, and that it will take some time for the information to sink in.Β However, if you are keen to research, able to maintain your cool, and willing to break a couple bits, you should be well on your way!
