Air Filter Regulator Setup
If you did not include the regulator in your order, you can simply connect your air hose to your compressor, and skip this section.

-
If needed, install the quick-disconnect ball valve onto your air compressor.
-
Install two (2) BSPP straight fittings onto the filter regulator using an adjustable wrench.

-
Undo the large nut on the top of the unit.
-
Select a location to mount the filter regulator. Then attach the mounting ring to your chosen location using the appropriate screws.

⚠️ The unit will drip water, so do not mount it above electronics or wiring.
- Place the filter regulator unit into the mounting ring.
- Secure it using the large nut on top of the unit.

-
With the filter regulator fixed in place, cut the tubing such that:
- One line connects the air compressor to the filter regulator inlet, labelled IN.
- The existing line (in the drag chain) connects the spindle to the filter regulator outlet, labelled OUT.
- ✂️ Cut the tubing squarely, not diagonally, to ensure a proper seal.
-
Then connect the tubing between the filter regulator outlet and the spindle, and the
air compressor and the filter regulator inlet.
-
Use the handle on the quick disconnect on your compressor to open the line.
Before connecting a new air compressor to the automatic tool changer system, check your manufacturer’s recommendations on purging the system of debris before you begin.
Setting Air Pressure & Flow
-
Turn on the air compressor.
-
Set your air compressor to provide its maximum flow, usually this is a knob next to the gauge that has a mark for max. We won’t be adjusting here, just set it to fully open.

If the air compressor pressure does not increase at all, check that the drain valve is closed (OFF). -
To adjust flow at the filter regulator:
- Pull the air filter regulator knob upwards.
- Twist it through its full range to find the position that provides an output pressure of 90–100 PSI.
- Once found, push the knob back down to lock it in place.
- Pressure fluctuations are normal.
-
When the compressor recharges, re-adjust the regulator knob as needed to return to the target pressure.
If the filter regulator pressure does not increase at all, check that the quick-disconnect on the air compressor side is open by turning the handle.
